I do truly feel bad for the people that enjoyed The Acolyte, but I don’t get the argument of the zealots who say that with the cancellation we now won’t get the story of Darth Plagueis and Yoda etc…that fandom essentially shot it self in the foot with a blaster.
I see the whole first season as burying the lead if the intent was tell the story of Darth Plagueis.
It wasn’t folks. It was the story of two sisters ripped from one another by an organization that may or may not have over stepped its bounds. A story of a political powers hubris and the its unintended victims.
If the intent was to introduce Plagueis you do that at the climax of the arc, episode 3 in a 6 part series. You don’t tell a completely different story for an entire season. As a culture we’ve become so wrapped in subversion and surprise we lose sight of what people are thirsting for. It’s ironic that creators act this way when their entire audience is perpetually basking in mechanisms of instant gratification. Oh no, I’m sorry, it’s formulaic greed not irony.
There’s a slow burn and then there’s trying to light the redwoods on fire with a single match in the hopes that you can fan flames for ten seasons.
If Disney led with a Plagueis focused series, season 2 would already be in production.
