What is Oldtron Podcast? Comic books, comedy…ish…yet another brand for this four year audio adventure across AIN’T IT COOL NEWS, POPTARDSGO.com and…that’s it really. We’re good, not that good. I’m Rob Patey. I’m hosting Mark Miller. We have been known as Optimous Douche and Ambush Bug, but we’re not proud of it. JD, our third member is ashamed of Bug’s past so he runs whenever he hears the bells of Uncle Drunkell Miller chime.
Sorry for the coughing, I’m sick.

Great job guys!
I’ve been living in Tokyo over the past 4 years and these podcasts have kept me sane in the land of weekly perversions and Manga
All the best to you in the new year.

Any requests? Book or geek topic accepted?
As someone who is about to get his first book published early next year I’d love it if you guys would review it. It’s a 6 issue series about a troubled kid who discovers Nikola Tesla’s death ray. It will be published digitally first by Alterna Comics and then collected in a printed TPB.
Also, being as we are about the same age (40) I think it would be interesting for you and Miller to throw some shine on more Indy books in general next year. Alterna, Black Mask, Markosia and a bunch of others are doing some great work. It seems to me like the big 3 (Image included) publishers have a rotating roster of 6 or 7 writers who dominate the market. I remember back when I was a kid the Indy market was huge and the new Indy work being published today (digitally and in print) is very reminiscent of that time.
Anyway, again, thanks for the great podcasts. Happy New Year.
Greg,
We’re in for a review when you have something to share man, I think you know how to reach me?
I feel the same way about expanding indie coverage as I do about ultra liberals, nice in theory but a shit show pragmatically.
As a comic book reviewer (if that’s a thing, ten years in and I still question), especially in the digital age you must balance pet passions with general mass appeal. The only way we can get enough eyes on the page to see an indie review is if we balance the page with enough search fodderof what’s known to draw in users.
Time is also a bitch, we all have day jobs. Mine is probably the greatest time suck. If we could ever find a way to monetize this comic review….whatever it is…we could divert more attention to indie titles and scale back on our efforts for The Man a little.
Also, we still love the capes. Fandom is still a factor for us. Since no cash it’s all about the love of the game.
Maybe a reminder on where I can send you my book? Its out March 9th and I’d like to send you a preview copy.
